GES' Contribution Receives Praise From the Mayor & School
A team comprised of Waldon Studio Architects, Penza Bailey Architects, Forrester Construction and Global Engineering Solutions partnered with the DC Department of General Services to help modernize Nalle Elementary School into a cutting edge learning environment. Nalle Elementary School is located in an economically and socially challenging neighborhood in Southeast, DC. Consequently, the school was lacking many of the tools needed to provide a healthy and safe atmosphere for the teachers and students. Prior to the renovations, the existing systems were antiquated and inefficient, but now after a summer of construction, the facility has been transformed into a 21st century academic institution.
GES Presented with 'Super Hero Award' at Jubilee Gala
At the 23rd Annual Jubilee Gala this past weekend, hosted by the Jubilee Support Alliance (JSA), GES proudly accepted the Super Hero Award as a token of appreciation for all of its contributions over the past eight years including its efforts in renovating seven apartment complexes for Jubilee Housing.
Opening Ceremonies for GES Project Conducted by Mayor Adrian Fenty
Global Engineering Solutions was selected by OPEFM/DC Public Schools to provide the mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection engineering design and construction administration services for the Ferebee Hope Elementary School. The existing facility consisted of antiquated and inefficient building systems, lack of natural light and void of any modern technology. The new design called for the reconfiguration and modernization of the existing open plan classroom to create a more enriched learning environment complete with modern amenities. As part of the opening day ceremonies, Mayor Adrian Fenty toured the completed project which included enhanced lighting systems, new energy efficient HVAC systems to improve indoor air quality and advanced technology systems including the implementation of smart boards.
GES Project Visited by First Lady Michelle Obama
Ferebee Hope Elementary School is a partner school of Communities In Schools (CIS), an organization that works in partnership with public schools to help students stay and succeed in school. As part of the CIS initiative, First Lady Michelle Obama visited with more than 30 students participating in an after school program at the school. Also important to students' success is ensuring that their school provides a learning environment where they can focus, grow and succeed.
GES educational project receives 3 design awards
Benning Elementary School was a former school without walls building and only had large open spaces and no traditional classrooms. It has been transformed into a modern school that now supports two charter schools, with traditional classrooms and administrative spaces, and two separate entrances. In the new space, the two schools, DC Prep and Nia Community Public Charter School, share common spaces, but each school has its own facilities separated on two different floors.
